Prof Mritiunjoy Mohanty

Prof Mritiunjoy Mohanty is Professor of Economics at IIMC. He teaches the compulsory paper on the Indian Economy and a part of the Development Economics course in the PGDBM programme. Earlier, he also taught in the MA programme of Centro de Investigacion y Docencia Economicas, Mexico City, Mexico in the academic year 1992.

Prof. Mohanty holds specialisation in Development Economics, International Trade, the Economy of Financial Markets and Open Economy Macroeconomics. He has a number of publications to his credit. Some of these are, ''Structural Characteristics of the Mexican Economy', 'Industrial Restructuring and Implications for Human

Resource Development in ASEAN', 'Strategies for the Solution of the Debt Crisis: An Overview'.
   

He did his doctoral research on the Mexican Economy from JNU, New Delhi. A substantial part of his thesis is devoted to an exploration of the manner in which the nature of financial systems affects the development strategies, which economies undertake. His current area of research is the feasibility in context of financial globalisation of bank-based financial systems as mechanisms of financial intermediation.
